Joe Little Bio
Joe is an Agile Coach and trainer. He has been a project leader since the 1980’s, working for well-known financial firms in New York, London, and Charlotte. He was trained by Ken Schwaber and has been mentored by Jeff Sutherland. Schwaber and Sutherland are the co-creators of Scrum. He has an MBA. He is a husband and father of two. He was born in Virginia, lived for 20 years in NYC and now lives in Charlotte, NC.
Scrum is one flavor of Agile, and, based on some evidence, the largest flavor of Agile. Scrum also plays well with other flavors of Agile (such as XP) and with other practices. Scrum has proven very successful in making teams noticeably more productive, both for Software Development and for other types of efforts.
In this talk we will describe the skeleton of Agile. We will talk about how it originated, and what its values and principles are. We will then discuss the main roles of Scrum, the Product Owner, the ScrumMaster, the Team, and the Stakeholders.
We will also discuss the main artifacts and the main meetings of Scrum. We will then discuss how much benefit Scrum can bring and what the key problems are to successfully adopting it. We will then entertain questions.
You expect you will come away with an understanding of:
• the basics of Scrum
• what powers Scrum
• some of the myths about Scrum & Agile
